The case wasn't hard to crack, but the Dahlia scratched a surface he thought was impenetrable.
She appeared over easy, but her life was a scramble. It was out of the frying pan and into the fire with this dame. And when she rolled out of town, having poached his cat, well, Spade spent the next month pickled.
A quick note about the book: Throughout "The Hard Boiled Egg" novels, Spade had managed to smooth over most of his rough edges, and was never seen to crumble. It was rare for him to break character, but sometimes the sulphureous temper slipped out. In this book, we see the hard surface broken and the tender interior exposed.

Not to egg-agerate but this is high cullinary comedy art - arty farty art!
This is surprisingly funny! Genuinely good stuff. Now that Douglas Adams is gone, maybe you could take over. But no matter how good you might get, I don't think you'll ever be cas apable as he was to write a trilogy in 5 parts
I need to read these Hard Boiled Egg novels! I have an egg cup just like that!
I actually love this.
