Warming up

Julia managed to start a fire near a large rock, safely away from the riverbank. She dragged Pipper to the spot between the rock and the fire, undressed his wet clothes, and covered him with a blanket. Though unconscious, he was breathing, but his lips were blue from the cold. She removed her own clothes and crawled under the blanket beside him to warm him up. Julia held him close, wrapping him in her arms. Over time, the warmth from the fire and the blanket drove away the cold, and despite the sun being high in the sky, she fell asleep. When she woke, it was night. She added wood to the campfire and returned to her spot under the blanket beside Pipper.
