The Wampus is not to be taken lightly.
They are known to have similarities to a cougar, but are larger, faster, stronger, and have two additional front legs for a better grip when climbing and hunting.
The Wampus are known to hypnotize their victims before killing them and are said to have some sort of telepathy as well. But this is only when they feel particularly lazy that day when out looking for food.
Wampus's are featured in the Potterverse as a Class XXXXX creature. And is featured as one of the 4 Houses of the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry founded by Isolt Sayre and her husband, James Steward in North America. Wampus fur can also be used as a Wand Core, though the details escape me at this time.
