Horia Bernea (1938–2000) was a Romanian painter and a key figure in postwar Romanian art, known for merging Orthodox spirituality with contemporary artistic language. He was associated with the "School of Târgu Jiu" and later became director of the Romanian Peasant Museum, which reflected his deep engagement with national identity, folk culture, and metaphysical space.
