George Grosz
Grosz’s biting satire of greed and authority made him a natural target for the regime that came to power in 1933. His work was labelled corrosive and unpatriotic, and by 1937 several of his paintings were displayed in the propaganda exhibition that mocked modernism and moral dissent.
