Pilate...the coward. Christ is giving them all a chance at redemption, and they deny him. 

I think most miss the point of his story. The blame tends to go only to the Jews who condemned him, but is this story not just as much about the idea that we can wash away our sins and clean our conscience by simply saying "not my problem, just doing my job?"

Humans have done this throughout history by appease their conscience and I think this story points out the guilt of both parties. A law may be written, but if that law is unjust, and you ruin someone's life over it, you are still responsible for that. I believe that is the true point of this story. Pilate had a choice and he chose not to be involved, not to take a chance by doing the right thing. That makes him just as guilty as those who officially condemned him.

A series focusing on famous scenes of Jesus, focusing around the time of the crucifixion and resurrection, using different art styles. This one is based on Caravaggio's famous painting and focuses on Jesus, resigned to his fate, being brought before Pontius Pilate, and Pilate washing his hands of this decision.
