The Woman Who Waits for Her Laundry

That particular evening, socks in a heap, laundry basket overflowing, a woman glared at her mini washing machine. "Come on, Whirlpool, another mutiny?"

The dial hummed back, a smug beep its reply. She scoffed. "Oh, so you're ignoring me now? Fine, I'll wash my delicates by hand. See how you like being replaced by a vintage washboard!"

A tumble sounded, like muffled laughter. She narrowed her eyes. "Don't think I didn't hear that, you sassy metal box."

Another beep, followed by a gentle swoosh. She peeked in. Her delicates, winked at her through the soapy water. A sigh escaped her lips, "Alright, alright, you win. You're the spin queen, I get it."

A final, playful beep. The cycle ended. This machine, it had more sass than a telenovela villain. But at least it kept her clothes clean.
