Wail Wights, originally believed to be some kind of roving malevolent spirit, only later was it found out they were actually forest faeries. Having wandered into or been mistakenly transported to the inward parts of the industrial city, they began to slowly wander, seeking some small scrap of nature to sustain their souls. If unable to connect with the warmth of untainted earth or unobstructed sky, they slowly go mad, like a human going without sleep for weeks. Then the madness in their minds and corruption around them begins to twist their soul and visage into one of hatred, terror, and unending ravenous hunger. A Wail Wight, so named for the keening, blood chilling cry that tears like broken glass from their rotted throats. Heaven help the creature that hears the cry of one. Yet there is no help in heaven or hell for the creature that stumbles upon a coven of them... best to pray for death before worse befall you.
