Georges Lemmen

Georges Lemmen (1865 – 1916) was a Belgian artist associated with the Neo-Impressionism and Symbolism movements. His art style is characterised by the use of Pointillism (a technique of painting with small dots of colour) which he used to create harmonious and luminous compositions. Lemmen's work often focused on domestic scenes, landscapes, and portraits, with a particular emphasis on light and atmosphere. He primarily used oil paints and pastels on canvas and paper, employing a meticulous technique that emphasised colour theory and optical effects. His work is linked to the broader European Post-Impressionism movement, where he played a significant role in the development of Neo-Impressionism in Belgium.
