Famous all over Europe, British girls' comics were often drawn by Spanish freelancing artists like Purita Campos (Patty's World), Trini Tinture (Biggi, Tina, Twinkle), Esteban Maroto (Various), Enrique Badia Romero (Supercats) and British writers and artists like Denis Gifford (Happy Days).
Their themes had a huge range from the usual romantic soap operas to science fiction, to what we call today "slice of life" to spooky, eerie and horror stories (which were amazing and read well even today) to comedy and humor.
Although virtually unknown in America, there were hundreds of them published in Britain and abroad. The art style in many of them, especially those drawn by Spanish artists, will look familiar to vintage comics aficionados, since many also worked for adult horror American comics magazines like Eerie, Creepy and Vampirella.
Aimed at girls, first and foremost, these comics were extremely popular here in Greece too, especially in the 1970s and 1980s.
