The screen showed images of the wreckage from the night before—the twisted, charred remains of the RX-7 and the school bus that had been carrying children home from a late-night field trip. This is on us,” Kenji said quietly, breaking the heavy silence. His voice was low, barely more than a whisper. “We were all there. That could have been any of us.”
Will didn’t respond. His eyes remained fixed on the screen, the reality of what had happened crashing down on him. He’d been racing on those same streets, chasing the same high as Tatsuya, but this time, it had gone too far. Too far for Tatsuya. Too far for those kids.
