"Robotic joints and eyes" and probably a faulty training by AI's trainer led into a wrong direction. This would be android only, if aterwords a human skin and human eyes would be put around it.

This is amazing, we actually had little 3 inch plastic figurines of Asterix and Obelix at home, and the Asterix toy really did look like this.

My dad managed to find about 15 of the books in French, I have electronic copies of more than 24 in English.
