There are old folk tales about women who can turn into swans (or perhaps the other way around). I decided to take a crack at illustrating the "Swan Maiden" concept. I arbitrarily decided to set it on an island in the Aegean Sea, and my original prompt specified the face of Greek actress Zeta Makrypoulia, painted in the style of Boris Vallejo.
