Character Spotlight: Harry Lang

The main antagonist of chapter 3. Title: the Contagion

He initially appears in both chapters one and two, as a kindly surgeon. The one who saves David’s life after he was shot in chapter 1. Much like James he developed cancer, but he was unable to cure himself. He is a caring family man, alongside being a good surgeon.

Partially due to his belief in survival of the fittest and fear for his family’s safety he theorized that if a deadly enough illness was created that humanity would evolve past being able to get sick. He creates the AL-059 virus and unleashed it. It caused millions of people to lose their lives. Although a cure was created he still caused the greatest loss of life in the series, claiming it was for his family.

He represents Martine’s fear and Neuroticism. He dies at the end of chapter 3 allowing his virus to infect himself.
