My Dad was a pilot trainer in WW 2, and when the war was over he owned and flew a small prop plane.  We lived near a little airfield, and I used to love walking around in the hanger.  The scent of the fuel, grease, oil, and who knows what else were somehow special to me because it meant extra time spent with my beloved father.  Any one of those smells can take me back to those days in an instant.
