John 11:35, famously the shortest verse in the Bible, at least in English. In some translations it's "Jesus burst into tears" or "Then Jesus cried," but most of our English translations say the same thing: "Jesus wept." In this verse, it was a reaction to the death of his friend Lazarus, even though context suggests he already knew he would be raising Lazarus from the dead. It's not the only time Jesus is said to have cried.

"even though context suggests he already knew ..." made me wonder from the first time I remember reading this scripture whether He was crying at the disbelief of those who knew Him so well. If they were so slow on the uptake, then ....
