I might have been NC's biggest SD 2.1 user for a few months and was disappointed to see it go. I've been calling up old creations from 2.1 and duplicating them into DreamShaper and 1.4/1.5 and I'm starting to enjoy new effects. I didn't mean to be so different but after arguments with artist friends I resolved to not use any living artist names. This forced me in a different direction to most people. And then I get subversive when I feel encumbered and have taken a 'hacker' attitude. It's fun but exciting to see wonderfully weird shit for the first time ever.

Yes, I think you are wise to use public domain works if you intend to sell yout creations.  Although I like watching what happens with the living artists in the prompts, based on what has already happened on youtube, I can bet that many AI works will run into copyright problems by using living artists.  I have been using AI to teach myself a bit about art history.  I now avoid the challenges and spend my efforts trying to make some images that I find of interest.  I have found that things became easier on Night Cafe once I had created enough works to use for experiments and for derivative works!  MUST RUN!
