Sonic the Hedgehog meets Felix the Cat

Our story begins at the dawn of film and animation, with the creation of an early cartoon character, designed by Otto Messmer and Pat Sullivan, who would go on to be featured throughout the 1910's and 1920's: Felix the Cat.

While Felix's popularity would wane with the meteoric rise of a corporate rival - Mickey Mouse - the character would go on to see several revivals throughout the 1900's, most notably with a TV series in the 1950's followed by a feature film and a second series in the 1990's.

Incidentally, the second and third revivals coincided with the creation of another character, whose design took several cues from Felix: Sonic the Hedgehog, who needs no introduction.
