Agdistis is a creature of Phrygian and Phrygian (Ancient Greek–Anatolian) mythology, an androgynous deity (both male and female) who originated from the god of Earth and the god of the sky. The main cult site of Agdista was at the city of Pessinus (Ancient Greek: Πεσσινοῦς), located in central Phrygia, near the modern Turkish city of Balgat (Ballıhisar) - about 100 km west of Ankara. Pessinus was considered a sacred center, where the sanctuary of Agdista/Cybele was located. The Romans later introduced the cult of Cybele (Magna Mater) here, which they associated with Agdista. ~1200–700 BC Early Phrygian Cult
This surreal digital painting depicts Agdistis, a dualistic being, creating starlight and unraveling nebulae. The soul's reflection adds to the dreamlike, philosophical atmosphere with iridescent colors.
