In Mortal Kombat 11, past versions of Kitana and Shao Kahn from Mortal Kombat 9 are brought into the present. Shao Kahn learns of his death by Raiden and the overthrowing of his successor Mileena by Kotal Kahn. Shao Kahn later ends up breaking Kotal Kahn's back in a fight, but Kitana slashes Shao Kahn's eyes with her signature fan blades soon after, which causes Shao Kahn to become blind and Kitana's prisoner.
