Thi is EXCEPTIONALLY thought provoking and magnificently crafted, Charlie! For me, it depicts 1) war veterans as children, but with the injuries they'll suffer as adults; 2) the often crippling effect of life's twists and turns as we make our way from birth to death. One of the most (in fact, the most) brilliant image I have ever seen here in my eight months as a 'participant'. WOW!

Thank you.  My intention was to depict the horrors of the polio epidemics.  I was born after the major epidemics, but I knew one boy in junior school and a girl who occasionally babysat me who'd had polio.  Even a decade or two after the major epidemics, the vaccines were seen as vanishingly close to miraculous.

And new we have half the world wanting to bin vaccines over misinformed beliefs based on a debunked idea.
