This emotional suppression is often tied to sexism, fatphobia, and beauty culture, where women are expected to be effortlessly beautiful, thin, and happy—even when struggling. Mental health issues, trauma, and body image struggles get buried under forced smiles and diet culture, reinforcing the idea that suffering in silence is normal.
The cost? Burnout, depression, eating disorders, and the constant feeling of never being “enough.” It’s time to break the cycle and make space for real emotions, real bodies, and real struggles.
