Alice Cooper is an American rock singer, songwriter, and performer. He's known for his raspy voice, theatrical stage shows, and experimentation with many musical styles. Cooper is considered by many to be the "Godfather of Shock Rock". Cooper's real name is Vincent Damon Furnier. He started his musical career in high school, organizing a band called the Earwigs to perform Beatles parodies for a talent show.

The legend is that the name “Alice Cooper” came from a session with a ouija board, but this story is untrue. The name was simply said at random, it was largely chosen because it sounded innocuous and wholesome, in humorous contrast to the band's image and music, and eventually adopted this stage name as his own.
