I practically sprinted back to my house, my heart hammering against my ribs. With every glance over my shoulder, I searched for any sign of the Aegis Seers. Reaching the familiar door, I fumbled to open it for a moment before shoving the door open and tumbling inside.
The wave of warmth that greeted me felt like a hug. Here, within these walls, the shadows seemed to hold less menace.
Mom's voice, laced with concern, drifted from the kitchen.
"Gracelynn, is that you?"
"Yeah," I called back, trying to catch my breath.
"Did you get Theon a gift, or did you waste those Grecines on some trinket?"
I sighed, a touch dramatic this time to mask the knot of worry in my stomach. "Actually, Mom, I put my own desires aside and got him something."
A smile, tinged with relief, softened her features. "Good. Now go get yourself ready for his party."

Wow - a very exciting continuation of this incredible piece. It is commendable how you flawlessly weave the rushing forte of fear and excitement into a delicate decrescendo as she arrives at this comforting, familiar place yet still harbors feelings of anxiety and fear of what is yet to come. I love how the image here shows that; the bright, warm light effuses from the room, like the gentle hand of reassurance caressing her beautiful features. Again, the style works very well in conveying the storytelling feel. In addition, this passage introduces a new character, Gracelynn's mother, whose personality is manifestly warm and caring, and through Gracelynn's conversation with her, we get to learn a bit more about their relationship and understanding of relationships with Theon. Another very fluid, masterfully composed section that flawlessly sweeps one into anticipation for the next to come. :)
It was awesome! I always enjoy good stories ;)
