Koloman Moser

Koloman Moser (Kolo Moser; 1868 – 1918) was an Austrian artist, who was a key figure in the Vienna Secession movement and co-founded the Wiener Werkstätte. Moser's art style was characterised by clean lines and repetitive motifs, drawing upon classical Greek and Roman art and architecture. His work embodied the spirit of the Modernist movement in Vienna and set the stage for the evolution of art and design in the 20th century. He designed a wide array of artworks, including books and graphic works from postage stamps to magazine vignettes, fashion, stained glass windows, blown glass, porcelains, ceramics, tableware, silver, jewellery, and furniture. His designs helped characterise the work of his era, and his compelling geometry is still recognised today.
