And the smell of salt was stronger as soon as summer ended and the first rains arrived. Then Nena would take off her shoes and go for a walk in front of the fishing boats in the late afternoon, just before they set out for the night's fishing.

‘Here comes Azzurrina,’ the fishermen would say, because that was always the colour of her clothes.
