Hades ignored him and said, “Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it here. You’ll have plenty of things to do. You see, this is the Underworld, where the souls of the dead come after they die. Some of them are good and some of them are bad. The good ones go to the Elysian Fields, where they enjoy eternal bliss. The bad ones go to Tartarus, where they suffer eternal torment. And some of them try to escape from their fate. That’s where you come in. You will guard the gates of the Underworld and prevent any soul from leaving without my permission.
