Those who think "it's just an animal" will never understand this, of course. But after my husband was killed, my animals, especially my beloved Boxers, didn't just witness my trauma; they helped to pull me through it. During the darkest days of my grief and PTSD, when the world felt too heavy to face, they were my quiet anchors. They gave me a reason to breathe when I didn't want to, and a reason to get up when I felt I couldn't. 💕🐾
