It's a harsh, but beautiful landscape.  In my mind, this is a few clicks north of a town called Prince Albert near the southern extremity of the Great Karoo.  The mountains are the Swartberge -- part of the east-west Cape Fold Belt range.  South of these mountains is the town of Oudtshoorn, which is famous for ostrich farming and the Cango caves.  One route between PA and Oudtshoorn is the spectacular gravel Swartberg Pass with its dry-stone walls; the other is through Meiringspoort.
