I studied "My Name is Rachel Corrie" by Alan Rickman in college. To this day I cannot hear her name without breaking down in tears. Thank you for bringing awareness to her story!
Rachel Corrie (1979-2003) was an American activist and diarist who joined the pro-Pal^stinian International Solidarity Movement (ISM) in the Gaza Strip.
She was killed by an Isr^eli bulldozer while trying to prevent the demolition of a Pal^stinian home.
She was born in Olympia, Washington, and studied art and international relations at Evergreen State College. She was involved in various peace and justice initiatives in her hometown and abroad. She went to Gaza as part of her senior-year project to connect Olympia and Rafah as sister cities.
She documented the human rights violations and the destruction caused by the Is^aeli military in her emails and diaries.
Her death sparked international outrage and legal controversy.
