He'd escaped the clutches of the jungle, the suffocating heat, the ever-present fear that clung to him like a second skin. But the war had followed him home, burrowed deep into his soul

He'd traded the battlefield for a different kind of conflict, one fought in the shadows of his own mind. The irony was a bitter pill to swallow. He'd survived the horrors of Vietnam, only to find himself a prisoner of war in his own home.

Now he is trapped in a loop of despair, forever yearning for the solace of that rice field, where death had seemed a welcome escape.
