I read through your request for feedback... but perhaps I am not the best person to answer that.
In portraits, my eye drifts from the subject to the background. I note the face and garb; I vaguely assess what those details suggest, but what captures my imagination is the setting.
The setting is the story. It is what the person chooses to define that moment of their life. It is a statement. It is the canvas for stylistic expression.
And so, here, I am drawn to the roses; the pure detailed blue cultivars, and the mottled background of wild cream roses, and leaf, and a mysterious fading into continuum directly behind the subject.
And so, it is as if the subject outwardly radiates placid beauty, yet the center is a mystery. Distant hints of what remains unknowable...
