It's called the Shadows in the Water series(a Lou Thorne thriller) by Kory Shrum. It's only available as an ebook I think. Lou is a vigilante that travels through shadows to kill criminals and she also has the ability to travel to an alien world by going underwater. It's such an interesting plot.
