Field Note No. 77: “The Ember Roses of Salamanca and Their Whispered Arithmetic”
Discovered in a pension near Salamanca, Spain, this peculiar bouquet was said to bloom only under candlelight and recite prime numbers in Castilian under its breath. Local lore claims the flowers are descendants of Saint Tiberius’s crown, which he flung into a monastery well after losing a chess match to a mule. The petals smell faintly of cinnamon and old parchment—a scent once banned in three provinces. See: Codex Vellutini, Folio 9.5b.
—Dr. Étienne Balthazar Crowley, Distinguished Ethnologist of Great Renown, Archivist of Perfumed Calculations
P.S. Never trust a rose that blooms in odd numbers.
