On the surface of the Velvet Kingdom, beauty, gentility, and tranquility are the order of the day, much like its name suggests. But as fine velvet can cover a multitude of aesthetic flaws, so too the luxrurious veneer of this kindgom hide a multitude of sins. Intrigue, machinations, betrayal, envy, and even assassination lurke in every shadow. Poison may be in every cup, and lies may be on every tongue. Beauty itself may hide a soul deformed so to as be barely recognized as human. Into this potpurried cesspool, this well flowered graveyard, two brothers find themselves thrust. In the wake of heroic deeds they find themselves promoted to less than heroic circumstances. And they must find out how to survive the many blades hidden... behind the curtains of the Velvet Kingdom.
