Well, the painting technique or method relies on easiness, not realistic or detailed painting. Forms, patterns, transitions from one color into another should be striking, blunt, obvious. The colors also should not be overly extravagant in this style. The overall appearance therefore is kind of "subdued", the harmony of the creation as such is much more important than any detail. The eye should possibly swing from one to the other place in the pic and never be offended. This kind of beauty is underestimated a lot in our recent times, the more the better is often the motto. With Jugendstil this is not the case. Motive and harmony of perception they chased. Having this on the wall should make the viewer stop, not in gaze, not exited, but with a smile and getting easily what the motive inspired him / her to think and feel. BTW, this is not at all easy to reach at. In addition, strangely enough it is kind of German; I feel that "Art Nouveau" is different to Jugendstil.
