Midas was a king of Phrygia with whom many myths became associated. According to Greek mythology, he was son of the mother goddess Cybele. According Ovid he helped a lost and wanderer satyr Silenus, the god Dionysus rewarded him giving him a wish, Midas asked to turn into gold everything he touch, he touches the roses of his garden and turned all of them into gold, then he orderer the servants to set a feast, he realizes that the food and drink he touches also turned into gold and he will start to starve, his daughter (or his wife in some versions) touched him and got turned into a gold statue, Midas realizes his gift turned into a curse, he prayed to Dionysus to remove his "golden touch" and he consented, telling him to wash in the river Pactolus. In Aristotle version, Midas eventually died of starvation as a result of his "vain prayer" for the gold touch, the curse never being lifted.
