Igraine dancing at Uther´s banquet

At a banquet given by King Uther Pendragon for his knights and the great men of the realm, the beautiful Igraine, the wife of Gorlois, Duke of Cornwall, danced. Uther fell madly in love with Igraine, but she did not return his love, even though he gifted her with jewels. Weeping, she told Gorlois everything. Enraged, he declared war on Uther. Gorlois fell in battle, and Merlin used ancient magic to give Uther the form of the Duke of Cornwall that very night. And so the unsuspecting Igraine received him. Uther regretted Gorlois's death when he was told what had happened and was deeply saddened. Igraine forgave him and after a while she became Uther's wife. After some time, Arthur was born.
