In the serene expanses of Hali, Cerberus found important resources, there was a huge accumulation of metals, minerals and relics that would help strengthen the power and influence of Cerberus in the galaxy. Lin Pham stepped off the space shuttle. There was a languid hum, the shuttle door slammed shut, making a sound like air was being released. The path lay through deserted mountains. The hologram showed that ahead, beyond the mountains, there was an abandoned complex left by a research team. The Alliance of Civilizations had apparently had a hand in this, and probably some of the resources had already been extracted by them. But Cerberus had its own plans for this.

Having boarded a high-speed all-terrain vehicle with her team on huge wheels, she drove up to the research complex. It was obvious that everything had long been abandoned. Reports and papers were scattered here and there. A feeling of desolation hung on the walls and in the air. Lin Pham concentrated, trying to feel if anyone was still alive here. But there was no sense of life here. Having gone deeper into the large complex, where in theory there should be an entrance to the mines, Lin Pham felt movement. These were undead shells, reborn by the reapers, with empty minds, driven only by hunger, once representatives of different races from the Alliance of Civilizations.
