Isblod (ice blood) vampires were once thought to be a myth by vampires at large, but one does exist.  Created in an experiment by Biᵹani, the Queen of the Sapphire Court, the woman that would become known as Ella Norman or Ella Vorhis became the first Isblod vampire.

As a vampire created from a living person in special rites of the most ancient magic, Ella became, like Biᵹani, a "Progenitor Vampire," and is one of only two known to remain, the other being her "mother" Biᵹani.

She became known as Isblod because of her snow white skin, which she had before she became a vampire, and for her strange powers which are linked to cold.  But mostly this title was bestowed because, as a progenitor, she is able to live off of both living blood and the blood of other vampires.  While non-progenitor vampires cannot ingest "dead blood," Ella coldly revels in hunting and eating her own kind, further earning her the name Ice Blood.
