We had travelled for years, following several trails that each went cold before we could track down the cause of the droughts. When we arrived here, we found a place that resembled home. A mighty river that flooded its fertile banks, warm climate. It was... tempting. We had travelled for so long without a hint of success. We were ready to admit we would not be able to complete our mission, for we had no idea what had caused the droughts. When we found this place so much like home, we were ready to admit defeat and suggest that maybe, just maybe our people relocate.
He fell silent. Ashildr could only guess why. She had lost her home millenia ago and could hardly remember, but a feeling in her gut told her that for the Nilians, leaving home would mean more than just settling down elsewhere.
How long ago was this?, she asked carefully.
We left Nile nearly five thousand years ago. Anubis answered.
