Anubis looked from left to right, letting his silent gaze wander through the endless rows of books that seemed to span this whole dimension. The bookshelves were so high you couldn't even make out the upper rows in the darkness. They weren't even sure there were _walls_ behind the shelves. 

On the ground, the less fortunate books and their remains lay in the dirt, unnoticed by the lucky ones that had been fortunate enough to remain in place in the shelves, hold in place by other similar books. While the painful allegory certainly had not been lost on Ashildr, Anubis seemed oblivious to the literary desaster that unfolded at his feet. _Just like a real god_, Ashildr thought bitterly. 

Meanwhile, Anubis' eyes had become noticeably dim, his shoulders sagging, the intervals at which he turned his head from left to right becoming shorter. He was lost and did not know where to look for what he was looking for. Whatever that might be.
