Baratoum stood resolute and silent as the dragon descended upon him, its giant talons and fangs poised to tear the dark prince to pieces.

As Charnathraxes passed low into the cathedral ruins like a meteor, Baratoum leapt into furious motion, running and jumping across the fallen stones. With a roar of triumph to match that of the dragon, he hurled his red blade.

It turned end over end. The dragon sought to swerve and avoid the deadly arc, but his plunge into the ruins at a furious speed has confined him. The sword ripped across the dragon's vulnerable throat, tearing a wide and deep trench. 

Blood and fire poured from the wound as the mighty Charnathraxes fell and struck with a great booming knell. The black dragon thrashed for moments and fell still.

Baratoum panted as he stood on a ruined walk and gazed down. The battle was done.
