FRELIMO established training camps in Nachingwea, southern Tanzania, preparing guerrilla fighters for the final campaigns against Portuguese forces. The camps represented a highly organized, systematic approach to war. After independence in 1975, Mozambique’s civil war was influenced by these military structures and networks, demonstrating how the organizational machinery of liberation sometimes became embedded in later cycles of conflict.
