Buried Queen Saga: Chapter 11 : Nyxara

In his bedroom, Alec sat, eyes fixed on the staff, pondering Remiel’s progress on his task. A colorful portal shimmered open behind him. Alec sensed it and greeted, "Welcome, Nyxara," without turning.

"My King, how are you?" She softly asked.

"I'd feel best if the wretched stayed still," Alec replied. "Seraphina—her name alone can instill power in him."

Her eyes widened in admiration and concern.

Admiration for the power of love and concern for her King.

She handed him a bag full of potions. "Here, Sire. As instructed."

Alec took a bottle from the bag, "Thank you, Nyxara. This should keep him at bay."

Nyxara hesitated before speaking. "Should I investigate Her Majesty's whereabouts?"

"No need," Alec said, a hint of a smile on his lips. "She will come to me herself."

She looked down, ashamed, "She escaped because of my weakness, bringing a dent in your plans. I wish to make amends."

His gaze softened, "Be on guard and ready to cast that spell on my signal."
