Space Station - Smelting Furnaces

The first step in processing the raw ore that has been extracted from nearby sources and delivered to one of the many mining drone bays is the smelting furnaces. Here the raw ore is cleaned, crushed and then melted down until it reaches a liquid state and impurities are drawn off. In some cases these impurities are fed back into the system to be further refined, in order to capture trace materials that are of value. A great deal of effort is put into minimizing the production of waste, and as getting as much use of raw material as possible.
