The characters stayed the same, but the scripts were at best, wobbly.
It was done extremely low-budget, with no-name actors, and reeked of mid-70s style and sentiment.
From left to right: Captain kirk, Science Officer Spock, Helmsman Sulu, but called "Fun-Gu" in the CBC series (?), Communications Officer Uhura, lieutenant Scot, always seen near his liquor cabinet, and "Far Out" Captain Pike, who, strangely, was highly featured in the CBC series.
Panned by critics and unwatched by viewers, it died after one season.
Notables: every character always had a can of beer and drank freely regardless of the situation.
Captain Pike, without any actual role on the Enterprise, was showcased weekly and was transformed into a fun-loving comic relief character, despite severe disabling wounds and near catatonic state.
Actors too inebriated to speak their lines clearly were overdubbed by an Ottawan janitor who never altered his voice regardless of the character, male or female.
