Bjornson laughed as he burned a card and laid down the flop: two black 10s and the nine of diamonds.
“Ooh! Start of something big here!” exclaimed Fairbairn.
“We shall see,” said Colonel Larkin. “20 is the opening bid.”
“Call, intoned Fairbairn. Bjornson did so as well. Sister Helena peeked at her hole cards and sat for a long time and thought.
“Is she praying?” asked Colonel Larkin.
“Hush, Colonel! Let the lass think!” replied Fairbairn. Sister Helena gave a “thank you” nod to the Scot, then after a few moments she made her move.
“Your 20 and 20 more,” said Sister Helena.
“Call,” said Colonel Larkin. Bjornson burned another card and placed the turn down on the table: the Jack of clubs.

“Fold,” Bjornson said.
“Fifteen,” said Colonel Larkin.
“I'll see your 15, and raise 10 more, said Sister Helena.
‘Your ten and 20 more,” said Larkin.
Fairbairn let out a low whistle. “Call,” she said.
“Call,” said Sister Helena. Bjornson burned one last card and then placed the river down: the king of clubs.
“25,” said Larkin.
Fairbairn sighed. “I fold.”
Sister Helen looked at her hole cards and after much thought she made her move. “I'll see your 25 and raise your 50,” she said.
“I'll see your 50 and 25 more,” Larkin said as his jaw tensed.
“I'll see your 25, and another 25 more,” said Sister Helena.
