EDC, or Excel Design Collective, is a fledgling company in the mech industry that builds exclusively quadruped mecha. Their first entry, the Exceed, is in the drone carrier class. As the market for quadrupeds isn't as crowded as the biped market, there was still room for EDC to forge an identity for themselves, especially since Galaxy and Pax Robotica made minimal inroads into this space; Pax Robotica began cashing in on its exosuits and largely dropped quadruped mecha.
The Exceed ironically does not exceed the size of most other quadruped mecha, but EDC claims that the quality of its design and construction does. Many quadruped mecha are around 50-60 feet tall, but recent advances in AI-based hypersonic missile targeting have rendered these larger mecha a liability. The Exceed is only 25 feet tall, choosing to make up its smaller drone capacity by being affordable and more survivable against ICBMs and artillery.
