It was a Tajik autumn when the rays of the setting sun caress the golden mountain tops, and nature seems to pause in anticipation of winter, while the wind gently whispers about the imminent arrival of silence and snow. But that year, autumn was unusual: after early and fierce frosts, the weather suddenly changed, a warm wind brought soft air filled with the scents of wilting leaves and earth, as if reviving after a cold sleep. But this recidivism of warm summer did not last long. Frost struck again, everything was covered with hoarfrost, and the cold sun sparkled from the clear sky, bringing light without warmth. Armed with nothing but curiosity and childish enthusiasm, my cousin and I ventured deep into the forest, hoping, perhaps, to find some edible roots or forgotten nuts on the branches, unaware of the miracle that awaited us.

The forest greeted us with silence, broken only by the rustling of fallen leaves underfoot and the distant echo of bird trills. We walked, peering into the face of nature, seeking the meager gifts of late autumn, but finding something greater—the secret of the earth, which revealed itself to us on that unusual day!
When we stumbled upon that glade, it seemed magical to us. Hundreds of small, motionless figures, covered with frost, like little sculptures created by nature. These were earth frogs, which, deceived by the warmth, had come out into the light to continue the cycle of life, but were caught by the frost. They lay helplessly, like pearls scattered on the velvet of the meadow.

Earth frogs are amazing creatures of our places, adapted to life in a variable climate. In spring, when nature awakens from its winter slumber, they crawl out of their shelters to continue their kind. It is a time when the earth breathes warmth, and the frogs, using the short period of favorable conditions, hurry to lay eggs in ponds that are temporarily filled with water from melting snows. Springtime for them is not only a time of reproduction but also a celebration of life, when they can move freely across the surface, not fearing predators that have not yet awakened after winter. They actively seek partners, and at this time they can be seen in large numbers in one place, making them easy prey for locals who use this chance to gather them for a feast.

I would like to tell you about one of the happiest events not only of my сhildhоod but of my entire life.
